Optimization of biogas plants through the use of powerful biogas bacterial consortia

28.02.2017
Biogas plant

Scientists from the University of Applied Science (HAW) - Faculty of Life Sciences - and ISF GmbH - the R & D depatment at Schaumann BioEnergy GmbH - are working together in the coming years on the very important research projects.

The research focuses on the identification, incubation and multiplication of particularly powerful biogas bacteria cultures for the optimization of degradation processes in biogas plants. In the long term, this will make it possible to use, among other things, the use of biogas technology, which is difficult to decompose and to produce by-products. In addition, by increasing the number of microorganisms (bioaugmentation) in biogas plants, the process stability is to be increased, especially in flexible plant operation

The work will lead to more transparency in the microbiological context in the biogas process
The project is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) through the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR), and it runs until February, 28th 2018
