New building on Hülsenberg Estate in Wahlstedt

ISF Schaumann Research celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, after it had moved into its new building on Hülsenberg Estate in 2013.

The facility has an area of 1,600 m2 for laboratories, the Technology Centre and biogas trials as well as offices, meeting rooms, a lobby etc.

Advantages of the new facility on Hülsenberg Estate

• Hülsenberg Estate provides an optimum infrastructure for continuing, expanding and deepening our research and development efforts.

• The estate houses not only the experimental 750 kW biogas plant in close vicinity to our laboratories, but also allows the substrates required for ensiling trials to be produced and made available quickly and easily.

• ISF now has access to all of the equipment used on a modern farm as well as meeting and training rooms and a canteen for shared use.

• More space in the laboratories means more efficient work without long set-up times. There is also another extension for the further development of organic trace element production in the eccentric vibrating mill, for the testing and analysis of a wide range of enzymes and the investigation of the function and benefits of phytogenic additives.

• All of the various spaces are integrated into the IT network, which features a sophisticated new laboratory information management system (LIMS) with broad analytical applications.

Sustainability at our locations

The new ISF building was designed for sustainability. The biogas plant not only plays an important role in ISF’s practical trials, but also covers the entire heating requirements of the new ISF facility via a closely meshed district heating network. From the very start, the building’s geometry and floor plan were designed to allow roof surfaces to be optimally used for a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 70 kWp. As a consequence, ISF is now self-sufficient in terms of both heating and electricity.
